Mountains Čergov
Cergov, colorful and little-visited mountain is situated in the Eastern Slovakia, surrounded by villages Lenartov, Lukov, Šiba, Hertník, Frickovce, Terni, Jakubovany, Drienica, Milpoš, Kamenica, Kyjov and Circ. Its direction is from a polish village Muszyna to the south, south-east, the length is about 30 km. The highest peaks exceed the level of 1000 m. The hill with name Mincol ist the highest point of Cergov Mountains - 1157 m. Cergov Mountains crosses the European water-shed. Northern slopes with its streams feeding river Poprad and then river Dunajec, which waters directs from Slovakia into the Baltic Sea. Streams in southern and eastern Cergov Mountains takes water towards Torysa and Topla and then to the Black Sea.The Cergov Hill is located in the eastern part of the main ridge. The easiest approach is from the east side from the villages Hertník or Frickovce on the yellow marked tourist route and then connected to our red "tourist highway" - Route of the heroes of the Slovak National Uprise. A little longer route is fom villages south of Terni, Hradisko or Závadka. Most efficients tourists may prefer the route from the south-west of Sabinov. Access roads are flanked by dense spruce and spruce-beech woods, with picturesque mountain meadows. The summit of the Cergov Hill is flat and largely without trees, and with mountain meadows. In good weather conditions it is possible to see over Kapušiany Castle, Drienica-Lysá, or Prešov. And something else .... in Slovakia have not find any hill called Cergov ...)
